our mission

On mission with the community to meet the needs of those in crisis, together for the glory of God.

Our mission is to bring the community together for the common good of those we serve as we help restore hope, dignity and stability to their lives.

our vision

Cultivating communities by planting seeds of love and hope

As we strive to provide for the needs of those in our community, we will remain focused on our vision to serve the community and honor God by planting seeds of love and hope. Our goals are:

- to be a reliable resource for our community and other agencies working to meet the needs of those in crisis.

- to be supported and valued by the communities we serve.

- to provide an atmosphere in which the people we serve experience being cared for with dignity and respect.

our story

The Sharing Shed was started in 2001 by Vicki Unser when she was led to help people in need and was inspired by how God provides. She first ran the Shed out of her garage. As the economy declined and individual and family needs grew, the need for a larger facility to house all the donations became evident. We now have a 6,500 sq. ft. warehouse and office space in O'Fallon, Missouri. Many churches in the community have walked alongside us to help further The Sharing Shed's mission. The Sharing Shed is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization who partners with local churches, agencies, and organizations to provide furniture for local families in our community. The Sharing Shed has helped over 2,500 families begin a new life. These include families that have been victims of house fires and floods, have been displaced due to loss of employment, are fleeing abusive situations, are recovering from homelessness, or are dealing with other hardships.

more about us

Dozens of agencies work with the homeless population, victims of domestic violence, and low-income households to provide temporary housing and recovery programs. The main component that they are often unable to provide is furniture. The Sharing Shed works with these agencies, churches, and organizations to provide furniture for those transitioning into their own homes. Furniture is also available for foster children that age out of the program, for children identified by local school counselors, and for people who lose all of their possessions in natural disasters. We are always finding new ways to support those in need throughout St. Charles, Lincoln, and Warren Counties.

The Sharing Shed is “On mission with the community to meet the needs of those in crisis, together for the glory of God” as we strive to provide our clients with a bed to sleep on, a sofa to sit on, and a table to eat from.  Our volunteers’ focus is to share love and hope to those we are fortunate enough to serve.
